1. Do the credits I purchase from Pacific CPE expire? No, your credits will never expire. You can use your credits anytime to select and complete any course in our library.
2. Does Pacific CPE report my course completions to the IRS? Yes. All courses completed with a passing score are automatically reported to the IRS if you have provided your PTIN number to us. Courses are reported every business day, but please note that the IRS may take up to 48 hours to post recently reported credits in your PTIN account online.
3. Are there any additional fees to complete my courses? No. Your purchase from Pacific CPE is all-inclusive. There are no additional fees for taking exams, grading exams, completion certificates, etc.
4. How long do I have to complete courses? Per IRS regulations, courses must be completed within 1 year of purchase. However, we are always happy to re-enroll our students in any unfinished courses for free.
5. Are courses from Pacific CPE approved by the IRS? Yes. We are an IRS Approved Continuing Education Provider. Our IRS Provider ID code is TJTMJ.
6. Do courses from Pacific CPE qualify for Enrolled Agent continuing education credits? Yes. All of our EA courses qualify for EA CE credits. The IRS Program Numbers for each course can be viewed in their descriptions.
7. What are the continuing education requirements for Enrolled Agents? EAs are required to complete 72 hour of IRS-approved continuing education during the 3 year period preceding license renewal, with a minimum of 16 hours completed per calendar year, including 2 hours of Ethics.
8. What format are the courses presented in? All Pacific CPE courses are presented in self study format with PDF course materials and online exams. On demand access to both courses and exams is available online at any time.
9. Can I save my answers during an exam and return to finish it later? Yes. All EA exams include a save feature that allows you to save progress and return later.
10. What happens if I do not pass a final exam on my first try? The exam for any EA course can be repeated as many times as need to pass. Per IRS regulation, the minimum passing score is 70%.
11. Can I see the questions I got wrong on an exam? Yes. Incorrect answer feedback is provided instantly only after passing an exam by clicking the "Incorrect Answers" tab.
12. Can I repeat the same course? The same course can only be repeated for credit if it is completed during a different calendar year.
13. Can I complete courses from Pacific CPE on a tablet or smartphone? Yes. All Pacific CPE course programs and features are fully compatible on tablets and smartphones -- including: Apple iOS, Android, Kindle, and Nook.
14. Are these courses accepted by the Oregon Board of Tax Practitioners for Licensed Tax Consultants and License Tax Preparers? Yes. As a NASBA and IRS approved continuing education provider, all Pacific CPE courses are automatically accepted for continuing education for Oregon Licensed Tax Consultants/Preparers.
15. When are courses updated for the next tax season? Courses are promptly updated to reflect any changes in tax law. Certain tax courses are updated annually during mid November in order to coincide with the end of the legislative calendar. If you registered for a course before an update, we are always happy to provide the updated version of the reading materials for free upon request as soon as available.
16. Do courses from Pacific CPE satisfy CFP continuing education requirements? The CFP Board accepts continuing education courses from pre-approved CE sponsors, as well as non-registered sponsors. Pacific CPE is not pre-approved, but because our courses are NASBA compliant, they are able to qualify as non-registered CFP CE.
